Inspired by one of motorsport's most recognisable rally cars, this personal project explored the balance between heritage and modern automotive design through the creation of a bespoke livery for a Porsche 997 Safari build. Drawing influence from the legendary Rothmans-sponsored Porsche 953 Dakar, the objective was not to recreate an icon, but to reinterpret it for a contemporary platform while respecting the proportions and character of the vehicle.
The project demonstrates Studio Sole's approach to graphic composition beyond traditional branding, applying visual storytelling to one of the world's most celebrated sports cars
Automotive livery design demands more than simply applying graphics to a vehicle. Every line must work with the bodywork, accentuate the vehicle's form and remain balanced from every viewing angle.
The design retains the unmistakable blue, white and gold colour palette associated with Porsche's rally heritage while introducing contemporary proportions and refined detailing that complement the wider stance, raised suspension and purposeful character of the Safari conversion. The objective was to create a design that felt authentic to Porsche's motorsport legacy while remaining uniquely its own.

The concept was developed as a complete vehicle graphic package, considering every panel, contour and transition across the body. Close attention was given to how the graphics interacted with the Porsche's distinctive silhouette, ensuring the livery remained cohesive whether viewed up close or from a distance.
The final design was professionally produced and installed by The SignLab, bringing the concept from screen to reality with a finish that celebrates both classic rally heritage and contemporary automotive culture.
The completed Porsche 997 Safari is a one-of-a-kind interpretation of an automotive icon, combining classic rally inspiration with contemporary graphic design. More than simply decorating a vehicle, the project demonstrates how thoughtful visual design can enhance the character of an object, creating a result that feels equally at home on the road, at an automotive event or as a piece of rolling design.
